5-Ply vs 7-Ply 17 Piece Waterless Cookware Set Comparison
The number of plys refers to the bottom of the cookware that comes in contact with your cook top. 7-Ply Sets have 2 more layers than 5-Ply Sets. Those 2 layers are:
1.Carbon Steel
2. Extra Layer of 304 Surgical Stainless Steel
The carbon steel layer gives the 7-ply set better heat distribution and will keep food hotter longer while using less energy to cook the food. The 7-Ply Set works best with "Induction Stoves" due to the carbon steel layer though the 5-Ply Set will work with induction stoves as well. The cost to manufacture the 7-ply cookware is higher.
The other difference between our 5-ply sets and our 7-ply sets is that the High Dome Cover in the 7-Ply Set has a 7-ply bottom so you can use it as a skillet on your cook top. You "cannot" use the High Dome Cover in the 5-ply set on your cook top. You can only use it as a lid for your skillet or your stock pot.
Here are the layers in our 5-Ply Sets starting with the bottom that comes in contact with your cook top:
1. Ultra AISI 430 Stainless Steel
2. Aluminum Alloy: bonding agent, heat transfer
3. Pure Aluminum: fast, even heat distribution
4. Aluminum Alloy: bonding agent, heat transfer
5. 304 Surgical Stainless Steel
Here are the layers in our 7-Ply Sets starting with the bottom that comes in contact with your cook top:
1. Ultra AISI 430 Stainless Steel
2. Aluminum Alloy: bonding agent, heat transfer
3. Pure Aluminum: fast, even heat distribution
4. Aluminum Alloy: bonding agent, heat transfer
5. 304 Surgical Stainless Steel
6. Carbon Steel
7. 304 Surgical Stainless Steel
The inside and outside of both the 5-ply and 7-ply sets is 304 Surgical Stainless Steel. Even our 5-ply 17 piece waterless cookware set is significantly heavier than comparable 5-ply 17 piece waterless cookware sets sold through direct sales waterless cookware companies in home presentations.
